StoryCorps is looking for mom/stepmom teams to interview!

Storycorps_logo Wouldn't it be helpful to have more stories of ex-wives and stepmoms out there, telling the truth about their lives, letting us take a peek inside? Well maybe YOU can tell your story… or eventually just hear some! I just got this very cool invitation from Eve Claxton of StoryCorps (they do the up-close, real-life story snippets on NPR).

Anyone interested?

StoryCorps is the National Oral History Project. Our mission is to record the stories of everyday Americans across the country and to archive them in the Library of Congress.

Every StoryCorps interview takes place as a conversation between two people: relatives, friends, co-workers or loved ones. Every participant receives a CD of their conversation to keep.

Sometimes we reach out to people in situations we haven't heard from before and invite them to record with us. We would love to invite step-mom/bio-mom friends to talk about their relationship together.

We're currently recording in:

  • San Francisco CA
  • New York City, NY
  • Erie, PA
So if you're within driving distance of NYC (ie: New Jersey,
Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania etc) we could probably make
it work.

We also have producers who will be traveling to:

  • Boston, MA and
  • Atlanta, GA
in the next few weeks…

The deadline is the end of August, so if you think you might be interested, hop on the stick and write to Eve at eclaxton@storycorps.org letting her know!

And can you help us publicize this very special opportunity by spreading the word to the rest of the stepmom/divorced-mom community?

Listening-cover-thumb I've heard their stuff on NPR and also have their fantastic book, Listening is an Act of Love. They do amazing, respectful, evocative work….

    Jen,
I sent Eve an email this morning – my ex-wife-in-law and I are game for this and Eve called me within 5 minutes! Looks like bio mom and me will be telling our story for posterity!

I like your blog. There are some really interesting articles featured by our experts on the bizymoms Erie community experts page.
